The Baseline Survey and Perception Assessment for the Deris Wanaag project involved a comprehensive
evaluation of community perceptions and baseline data in the cross-border areas of Kenya, Somalia,
and Ethiopia. This project, running from November 2023 to May 2024, aimed to inform and enhance the
strategic priorities and interventions of the Building Resilience in Kenya-Somalia-Ethiopia Borderlands
Programme. Key objectives include generating reliable data on community perceptions, filling gaps
from previous studies, and developing baseline indicators linked to community grievances, governance
challenges, and peacebuilding priorities. The methodology employs a mixed-method approach,
incorporating a cross-sectional household survey, key informant interviews, and focus group
discussions. The survey covered 3,475 respondents, ensuring gender representation and targeting key
demographic groups. Deliverables include detailed reports with both qualitative and quantitative data
analysis, identifying key trends, challenges, and recommendations to strengthen resilience and
development interventions across the borderlands
