The Social Network Analysis (SNA) for the Mandera Cluster (covering Kenya, Ethiopia, and
Somalia cross-border areas) conducted from July 2023 to February 2024, is a comprehensive
study aimed at understanding and mapping the key actors and their relationships in the
USAID Cross-Border Community Resilience (CBCR) Activity’s areas of intervention. This
analysis focuses on social cohesion, livelihoods, and natural resource management (NRM). By
identifying central nodes, knowledge brokers, and peripheral actors, the SNA provides insights
into the dynamics of these relationships and information flows. The study employed a mixed-method approach, involving quantitative and qualitative data collection through
organizational surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions. The findings
help inform the CBCR Activity’s strategies for fostering collaboration, enhancing conflict
sensitivity, and ensuring sustainable network operations across the Mandera Cluster.
